Trader Joe’s Shopping List

Below are sample weekly shopping lists for 1-2 people as well as larger families. In addition, there are lists for a quick stop as well as pantry stocking items. Modify these lists to suit your taste and eating habits and incorporate new items that appeal to you.

Trader Joe’s publishes a Fearless Flyer shopping list that highlights items from their monthly flyer. This list isn’t comprehensive enough to serve as your weekly shopping list, but does provide ideas for new items to try.

Weekly Shopping List for 1 or 2 People

Fresh Produce

  • 2 apples
  • 2 oranges
  • 3 bananas
  • 1 package sliced pineapple or mango
  • 1 package seasonal berries
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 package shelled edamame
  • 1 carton cherry tomatoes
  • 1 bag salad greens or spinach
  • 1 bag green beans

Chilled Items

  • 1 carton soy milk
  • 1-2 cartons juice
  • 1 container hummus
  • 1 container salsa
  • 2 fresh salads
  • 1 package baked tofu

Bread

  • 1 package bread (loaf, pita, lavosh)

Grocery Items

  • 1 box cereal
  • 1 box granola bars
  • 1 bag chips
  • 2 pouches Indian food
  • 2 cans soup
  • 1 box vegetable broth
  • 2 cans beans
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 jar or can of olives
  • 1 bottle salad dressing

Frozen Items

  • 2 bags frozen Italian entree (ravioli, fettuccini, gnocchi, polenta)
  • 1-2 packages enchiladas
  • 1-2 frozen pizza
  • 1-2 bags frozen vegetables
  • 1 bag frozen fruit (for smoothies)
  • 1-2 bags or boxes frozen rice
  • 1 box waffles or french toast
  • 1 box veggie breakfast sausage
  • 1 box ice cream or frozen fruit bars

Non-Food Items (as needed)

  • paper towels
  • tissues
  • toilet paper
  • shampoo
  • toothpaste
  • pet food & treats

Weekly Shopping List for a Family

This list is for a family of 2 adults with 2 young children. Modify the list to suit your family.

Fresh Produce

  • 4 apples
  • 4 oranges
  • 6 bananas
  • 1 package sliced pineapple or mango
  • 1 package seasonal berries
  • 1 bag of avocados
  • 1 package shelled edamame
  • 1 carton cherry tomatoes
  • 1 carton cucumbers
  • 1-2 bag salad greens
  • 1 bag spinach
  • 1 bag salad kit
  • 1 bag green beans
  • 1 package broccoli
  • 1 bag potatoes

Chilled Items

  • 1-2 cartons milk
  • 2-3 cartons juice
  • 2-4 containers yogurt
  • 1 container hummus
  • 1 container salsa
  • 4 fresh salads
  • 2 packages baked tofu
  • 1 package shredded cheese or cheese sticks

Bread

  • 1-2 packages bread (loaf, pita, lavosh)
  • 1 package tortillas

Grocery Items

  • 2 box cereal
  • 2 box granola bars
  • 2 bag chips
  • 1-2 boxes crackers
  • 4 cans soup
  • 1 box vegetable broth
  • 2 boxes macaroni and cheese
  • 4 cans beans
  • 2 cans corn
  • 1 jar apple sauce
  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 bag rice
  • 2 bags/boxes pasta
  • 1 jar peanut butter
  • 1 jar fruit jelly
  • 1 jar or can of olives
  • 1 bottle salad dressing

  • 1-2 boxes frozen lasagna
  • 2 frozen pizzas
  • 2-4 bags frozen vegetables

Quick Stop Shopping List

When you’re making a quick stop to pick up lunch or dinner add some of the items below to your basket for a few days of easy meals and snacks.

Pantry Shopping List

A well stocked pantry allows you to prepare good meals without running out to the store for last minute supplies. Stock your pantry with these staples from Trader Joe’s.

Grains

  • 2 boxes/bags dried pasta (spaghetti, penne, etc.)
  • 2 boxes/bags other grain (rice, quinoa, etc.)
  • 1 box cereal
  • 1 box oatmeal
  • 1 box granola bars
  • 1 bag tortilla chips

Soups & Broths

  • 2-3 cans assorted soups
  • 1 box broth

Beans & Vegetables

  • 1 can garbanzo beans
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 jar artichoke hearts

  • 2 bags nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts, etc.)
  • 2 bags dried fruit (raisins and cranberries are versatile)

  • 1 bottle olive oil
  • 1 bottle canola oil
  • 1 bottle balsamic vinegar
  • 2 bottles salad dressing
  • 1 jar pickles
  • 1 jar salsa
  • 1 jar/can olives
  • 1 jar sun dried tomatoes
  • 1 jar pesto
  • 1 jar mustard
  • 1 bottle ketchup
  • 1 bottle hot sauce
  • 1 bottle soy sauce

Sweeteners

  • 1 bottle maple syrup or agave
  • other sweeteners as desired

Beverages

  • 2 bottles juice (apple, lemonade)
  • 1 bottle Italian soda
  • tea bags
  • coffee beans

Seasonings

  • salt
  • pepper
  • chili powder
