Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Croissants

pumpkincroissantOne of my favorite things about Trader Joe’s is the many fun seasonal products they offer. Many are so good that I stock up, while others are just so-so.

For me these Pumpkin Croissants fall into the so-so category. I don’t regret trying them, but don’t need to again. The main issue is that the filling is pretty much like pumpkin pie filling and is just too heavy and wet for a croissant. You bite into a light, flakey croissant and then at the last moment get a bunch of pumpkin goo.

In addition, the moisture in the pumpkin filling makes the baking process less than perfect. The pumpkin usually runs out one end and the croissants turn out misshapen. On the upside the pumpkin seeds on top of these croissants add a nice toasted flavor and some crunch.

These are on par with the Almond Croissants, but not nearly as good as the Chocolate Croissants.
