Trader Joe’s Mac ‘n Cheese

macandcheeseTJ’s macaroni and cheese is delicious (very creamy and satisfying), but as expected high in calories and fat.

The reduced-guilt version isn’t nearly as good – skimpy sauce and cheese. I’d rather have half a container of this mac ‘n cheese than a whole container of the diet one.

Be careful with items like this containing cheese with rennet (animal enzymes) not truly being vegetarian even tho it appears to be! Several TJs items have rennet. Look for items marked veg or vegan on package.

This macaroni and cheese is also extremely versatile, lending itself to use in a free form, improv-esque “pile de casserole”, in which the food artist mixes the macaroni with hand-ground, free range veggie sausage, shredded vegan carrots, shredded vegan cabbage, and anything else ever.
