Halloween at Trader Joe’s

housesmallI was happy to see this fun haunted house kit at Trader Joe’s. I know mine won’t look anything like the package when I’m done, but it’ll still be a fun project that will get me in the mood for Halloween.

Trader Joe’s doesn’t carry much merchandise specifically for Halloween. I remember a futile trip a couple years ago to find some goodies to hand out to trick-or-treaters. There were no individually packaged treats specifically for Halloween and the regular merchandise that could have worked (candy bars, granola bars, trail mix, crackers) was too expensive to buy in large quantities.

However, if you just want some fun snacks for your child’s lunch box, try the pumpkin or jack-o-lantern shaped Joe Joe’s cookies. Make a fun afterschool snack with apple slices and caramel sauce or crackers with a scary face made with cream cheese and veggie slices. Avoid the Ghoulie Gummy Tummies since they aren’t vegetarian due to the use of gelatin.
