Trader Joe’s Indian Food Challege

palakpaneerfrozenTrader Joe’s carries two versions of Palak Paneer (spinach and cheese). I usually buy the shelf-stable pouch, because it’s less expensive and doesn’t take up valuable space in my freezer. palakpaneer

However, after trying the frozen version it’s my new favorite. The taste, appearance and texture of the frozen Palak Paneer is noticeably better than the shelf stable pouch version. The spinach is a brighter green, the cheese cubes are softer and the spices really stand out – in a good way.

Overall, the frozen Palak Paneer is just fresher and closer to restaurant quality than the shelf-stable version which is heated to a high temperature during processing and packaging.

Palak Panner is really good with Garlic Naan or Vegetable Biryani, both also available in the frozen foods case at Trader Joe’s.
